Why EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) is a transformational modality for trauma survivors. Through bilateral stimulation, our bodies are able to reprocess traumatic memories and deep-seated beliefs about the world and ourselves.

It is the mind-body connection that truly brings about healing. As a queer and/or traumatized person, it can be really challenging to be in your body, as it isn’t always the safest place. EMDR prioritizes creating a safe space to be in your body, and gives you the resources and coping skills to stay within your window of tolerance.

EMDR can be a game changer for those who have been in talk therapy, but maybe they are not making as much progress as they would like. Or maybe they find themselves talking about the same issues over and over again, intellectualizing their problems and not making much progress. EMDR can guide you in reprocessing negative memories and beliefs that may have been holding you back from reaching your most thriving self.
